I was recently asked by Bonobos, a menswear brand, to talk about what the new year will bring in terms of fashion. Personally, I’m a firm believer that every new year brings new style vibes and that January 1st should be treated as a giant fashion reset button. Last year was the year of
realizing things street style-esque elements, such as bomber jackets, all black, large hoop earrings, etc., so it’s only natural that 2017 style is something completely different, right? So after a lot of research on the internet (and within myself), it seems to me that this year’s “it” style is minimalism. Less is more this year, in both fashion and makeup, and that brings about a very interesting desire for capsule wardrobes in neutral color palettes a lot this year. And I’m not complaining! In fact, my capsule wardrobe that I packed for my study abroad is all — you guessed it — neutrals! Well, neutrals with a pop of color or fun textural elements; that’s how I add my own twist on the 2017 style.
I’m all here for less makeup and less clothes 2017. For me, this is the year of basic mix-and-match staples that create a classic and cool style. The best part of the 2017 style is that it’s not exclusive to women. This is a trend that men can definitely hop on, and Bonobos is an amazing place to find those pieces at an amazing price and with fantastic customer service. Below are a few of my favorite inspirations for my 2017 style.
